Hey, Sailor!

One Spring/Summer trend that has been around for quite some time and is somewhat timeless in my opinion, is the nautical look! I absolutely love anything that has navy or red stripes and anchor details...and that was before I joined my sorority in college (our symbol is the anchor).

I think anyone can pull this look off without looking too costumey...all you need is a great pair of crisp white shorts/capris/pants, a cute striped top (you can always reverse things - wear a striped bottom with a solid top) and great jewelry to accessorize with!

MAC Naughty Nauticals campaign ad - 2008.

Below are some of my picks for a chic and sassy nautical look...

Banana Republic Ruffle Striped Tank - This tank can be paired with blue or white denim, and a cardigan if it's a little chilly.

Kate Spade With A Twist Striped Rosette Tank - very fun, flirty and feminine.

Kate Spade Annapolis Agnes Sweater - I love the ruffle detail on the collar. This sweater is perfect for work, church or a casual date night.

Bebe Roxanne Pin Up Slingback Pump
- I think these slingbacks would be perfect with a sweetheart neckline dress for a 4th of July celebration.

Bebe Port of Call Necklace - I would prefer this in a bracelet version, but it's still a cute nautical inspired piece of jewelry nonetheless.

Are you a fan of the nautical look? What are some of your favorite Spring/Summer looks?

24!

Today is my 24th birthday…just one more year ‘til my quarter-life crisis, lol!

In the spirit of my birthday, I have decided to feature other fabulously fashionable Capricorn women who celebrate their birthday's in the month of January.

First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama – January 17
The First Lady is always one to watch when it comes to wearable, everyday fashion for the modern woman. Her style is very chic, classic and elegant, without being too stuffy and can be worn by just about every body type. I also love that she wears clothing from the Gap, J. Crew and H&M!

Lady in Red.
In this photo Mrs. Obama is wearing a gorgeous red sheath dress, which one of my personal favorite dress silhouettes. This particular dress is designed by MDLR, which is a new fashion label that is run by Moises de la Renta, who happens to be the son of famed fashion designer Oscar de la Renta.

A new twist on the LBD!

Here Mrs. Obama is wearing a feather adorned black cocktail dress by Jason Wu – the same designer that she catapulted to the forefront when she wore his gown for the Inaugural Ball last January. I think she looks lovely, and the President doesn’t look half bad himself!

Classic in Black and White...
Mrs. Obama is wearing a cute and classic black and white dress from the Summer 2009 Liz Claiborne collection. I could see many women wearing something very similar to this.

Supermodel Christy Turlington - January 2
YSL Fall 2009 Campaign. I love the look of the all black attire and red lips.

Escada Fall/Winter 2008 Campaign. Fabulous bag, fabulous blouse!

Bally Campaign. I love everything about this advertisement!

Supermodel Kate Moss - January 16
Just Cavalli Spring/Summer 2009 Campaign. That cardigan with the gold jewelry is gorgeous.

Top Shop Spring/Summer 2009 Campaign. I love how the movement of the skirt is captured in this photograph.

Versace Spring 2009 Campaign. I love the juxtaposition of the sweet, young and ultra feminine feel of the hearts and the chic edgy couture that the garment still manages to maintain.

Are any of you ladies Capricorn's? If so I hope you had a great birthday!

Now I’m off to enjoy my special day...

Relief for Haiti

As we all know by now the island nation of Haiti has been shaken by a powerful earthquake. My parents have close friends that are Haitian who have been unable to reach any of their family members and we are just praying that everyone is okay!

Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, so they definitely need all of the aid that they can get.

Showstopping Style: Gucci Spring/Summer 2010

When I first saw this advertisement I said "O.M.G" and I immediately became obsessed with these boots! They're soo fierce/fabulous/gorgeous, etc. etc. and I don't even want to know how much they cost because it would only sadden me to know that I would not be able to own them.

WARNING: If you wear these boots, you will garner an extreme amount of attention!

I can definitely see the likes of Lady Gaga or Rihanna wearing these boots for one of their performances.

These sandals might be better for those with more conservative tastes. Perfect for Spring and Summer months!

I love the hardware details on these.

It looks like back-zip sandals are here to stay...at least for a little while longer.

Fabulous Faux!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope everyone had a safe and fun New Year's Eve, and that 2010 is going great for you thus far!

I had a wonderful NYE that started off with a delicious dinner at Morton's Steakhouse and ended at the W lounge in Midtown-- which is a regular spot for my bf and I. Our original destination didn't meet our expectations due to extremely false advertising, so we ended up leaving after being there for only 30 minutes. However, the W saved the day and we were able to bring in 2010 with smiles on our faces. The first night party that we attended was a lot of fun as well so it definitely made up for the NYE issues!

I'm so surprised that it's an icebox all across the country right now! I am so over this cold weather and I am ready for Spring to arrive. Whenever I see a fur coat I automatically feel warm and cozy, so I thought this post would be appropriate considering current weather conditions.

Fur evokes a sense of glamour and elegance, and the thing that I like the most about fur is that it looks uber luxurious when paired with anything that sparkles, but just as fierce when paired with jeans and a white tank. But the one thing that I have with fur, is that I just can't bring myself to wear real fur!!! Luckily for myself and others who feel this way, faux fur has been getting better and better as the years pass and it is definitely more friendly on the wallet!

Below I've featured fabulous faux furs to keep you warm as you endure the frigid temperatures:

Juicy Couture Bracelet Sleeve Faux Fur Jacket

Express Cropped Faux Fur Coat

Joie Dreamer Faux Fur Jacket

Express Leopard Faux Fur Jacket

Bebe Cropped Shawl Collar Faux Fur Jacket
